CAMBODIA has lent support to India in its bid to become a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Koy Kuong said yesterday, as Indian president Pratibha Patil continued her six-day visit to the Kingdom. “Cambodia supports India for its candidacy to the UN Security Council,” Koy Kuong said, and added: “Right now, it is not on the agenda of the UN.” India hopes to join the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom and France on the council, the members of which have veto power over UN resolutions. Cambodia hopes to receive India’s support in its bid for non-permanent membership of the Security Council from 2013-2014, Koy Kuong added.
